For most people, especially those with barrel lengths over 14.5" we would recommend going with the shorter 556k. It will reduce the weight a little, the backpressure a little, and of course shorten the overall package at the cost of a little sound performance. That said, if you know you will be shooting from a bench most of the time or are using a short barreled host, the full size could be worth the extra weight.

That said, YHM's Phantom mounting system won't suit every user. Achieving the secondary retention of the ratcheting collar required substantial mass: the adapter alone weighs 2.84 oz, and the muzzle brake comes in just under 4 oz. Together, that nearly matches the weight of the suppressor itself and adds over an inch to the overall length.
