Long Stroke Piston Rifle

Jalk Gen 1

The Jakl is a naturally excellent suppressor host from the factory. With a adjustable gas block from the factory, this platform can handle the full spectrum of low to high backpressure cans. Most of our considerations will be about muzzle devices and blowback through the breach.

**This article only talks about the rifle caliber Jakls**

Suppressor

The jakl is a forgiving host to suppressors. I have ran anything from full sized high backpressure cans to low backpressure overbored .30 cal cans. The only modification required is a quick twisting of the gas block settings. That said, low backpressure still helps keep a gas cloud from stacking at the chamber. For those who shoot at indoor ranges, consider a reduced backpressure can, otherwise just throw on whatever satisfies you size and sound preferences.

If we were to make any recommendation for the gen 1 it is to get a lightweight suppressor, The massive gas block sitting on the government profile barrel with a long stroke piston make the front end of this gun really heavy.

Muzzle Device

The Jakl keeps it standard with their thread pitches. American standard 1/2x28 for their 5.56 hosts and 5/8x24 for their .30 cal hosts (.300blk, 308). This will be compatible with almost every modern suppressor mounting system. Therefore, your choice of muzzle device should come second to the suppressor you are using. Important note, many of the factory Jakl options are 13.7" or 14.5" barrels with a pinned and welded muzzle device. Ensure you are using the correct mount or have a gunsmith swap the muzzle device with a new length compliant muzzle device of your choice.

Adjustable Gas Block

The jakl comes with an 8 position adjustable gas block that modifies the gas from the factory. All it does is choke off the amount of gas used to actuate the long stroke piston. We have found the 8 position system to have enough granularity to tune for both high and low backpressure cans, and can be easily adjusted by hand.PSA put out a short video that covers how to use and tune the gas block that is worth seeing if the process is new to you. If you have messed with adjustable gas blocks in the past this one should be super intuitive to you. We have had no issues with getting ours carbon locked, but if the adjustment knob did seize up it is super easy to get a screw driver in there for extra torque.
